A&B Die Casting (a Division of Benda Tool & Model Works, Inc.) located in the San Francisco Bay Area is looking to complete its family portrait!

We are an ISO 9001 registered manufacturer of precision machined die cast components and assemblies, serving customers throughout California, the US and world-wide. Established in 1946, we provide contract-manufacturing services to over 200 customers, including all part finishing, CNC machining, plating, painting and assembly.

Your manifesto will be to provide departmental leadership and support to successfully meet goals and objectives, providing guidance and technical expertise whilst ensuring productivity and safety.  Design and implement die cast manufacturing processes, determine sequence of operations; forecast machinery/equipment/operator process time requirements.  Design new tooling and redesign current tooling, program manufacturing robotic equipment and machining centers; and prepare operational standards. Participate in determining manufacturing process improvement targets.

Scope of Responsibilities:

Responsible for the design, layout, and implementation of new die cast processes. Analyze and modify current manufacturing processes to implement process improvements. Program manufacturing robotic equipment as required. Determine processing sequence, optimal processing time requirements, and prepare operational standards. Modify current tooling designs as required. May assist in the preparation of department budget recommendations for needed equipment replacements/improvements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform, design and layout of manufacturing and die cast operations and lead, direct and oversee their implementation.
  • Analyze and modify current manufacturing and die cast operations including production equipment relocations.
  • Determine the optimal sequence of die cast operations.
  • Program production equipment including any all robotic/automation machinery.
  • Conduct time and motion studies to determine the optimal time requirements for each station in a production operation, including conducting cycle time studies for OEE improvements.
  • Analyze high rejection rates of assigned processes and implement appropriate countermeasures.
  • Familiarity with 5S methodology.
  • Modify existing tooling for design improvements in production processes.
  • Direct, monitor and oversee the activities and duties of Die Casting Supervisors and team; establish work schedules, assignments and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Prepare operational standards for assigned manufacturing operations.
  • Apply Deming principles and other root cause analysis tools/systems when analyzing production processes and use same to make appropriate improvements.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of improvement plans that target reductions in manufacturing operational times, while avoiding adverse impact to production operators.
  • Work closely with QA to maintain highest possible quality standards and stop processes at die cast or trim as necessary
  • Close all assigned project gaps, Controlled Document Change Requests, Change Notification Evaluation Reports, etc. prior to transfer of part responsibility.
  • Perform other process engineering related functions as assigned.

Education/Experience/Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Process Engineering + 3 years direct die casting experience or AA degree in Manufacturing or Process Engineering and 5 years of progressively more responsible process engineering related experience in die casting. 
  • Must have good computer skills in developing reports using basic spreadsheets and graphs as well as word processing.
  • Skilled in the use of Deming and/or other root cause analysis tools as well as knowledge of time and motion study techniques.
  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing.
  • Ability to communicate with employees, management, customers and vendors.
  • Ability to build credibility and trust and be a team player and comfortable leading with authority.

Compensation:

$85K - $105K (DOE) + signing bonus + relocation assistance
